This is what is written on the UPC (bar code) sticker on the box with my E-Trac:

Designed by Minelab Electronics, Australia
Assembled for Minelab Electronics, Australia
under contract by subsidiary of Plexus Corp. USA.
Made in Malaysia
E-Trac US

I haven't found any marking on the exterior of detector that indicates country of manufacture...

Very pleased with my E-Trac.yep same thing is says on the sticker on my new Excal ll i got today!

Toyota won't loose a large part of their customers just because of the problems with their brakes. They will loose them because how they handled that problem.

Toyota has the same luxury Minelab does. They make one of the best products. They can have a hiccup and still sell them. If you really like the Minelab product, let them know you support them and want them to succeed. I can't imagine why folks think posting negativity will fix the issues.

I wasn't aware that this was a positive posting only forum. Put your badge away Barney.

Shambler, you guys have been conned buy these detector company companies for years now and must like being screwed! I don't like breing Screwed and say my piece about it so then you get upset with me becasue of Pride, just maybe some day you will get smart and figure it out
I have owned a Whites, Garrett, Tesoro and a Minelab. I recently purchased an Etrac and have been using it for two weeks. If I would have tried the Etrac before I purchased it I would have paid double what I paid to have one. I haven't come close to figuring it out but it is one nice machine and I wouldn't trade it for all the tea in China. I don't think there is any con game going with the Minelab!

I think I have a grasp on what might be going on. Thank you all even the married couple that argue. ;D I will not check this post any more. Thanks again.

4-H said the same thing my dealer told me 3 months ago. A guy can always call his local dealer. Over time every company will have hicups in their customer service.

Oh great. Shambler, your a perfect example of why they need to work harder to make safer highchairs.

Minelab was bought by Codan over 2 years ago in Feb of 2008.

Codan designs and manufactures a diversified product range for international high frequency radio, satellite, military contracts and metal detection markets. They also supply TV broadcasting products to global markets and printed circuit boards for customers in Australia and New Zealand.

Codan has been using Plexus for their manufacturing needs for years, Plexus is a very well respected AMERICAN company in the manufacturing world, do a Google search on Plexus and see if you can find a singe negative link...They have won numerous awards including being ranked #10 in the world in 2008 and 2009 in EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services ). It is a Plexus plant that will be doing the work on Minelabs.

Plexus has manufacturing facilities all over the world, including one in Malaysia. Plexus is an AMERICAN company, the plant in Malaysia is a Plexus facility, overseen by Plexus.......Minelab is not just handing over the detectors to be built by Malaysians...

Treasure Hunter is right about Minelab's and the company that makes some of the components. :read2:

Treasure Hunter's post is the most sensible and factual comment on this subject :icon_thumleft:
Which incidently is popping up in other boards on this forum.
I have just been to Australia and bought an X-Terra from a dealer there, who added that
some manufacturing is still done in South Australia, notably the gold detectors.

Wait, did you just use the word "your" in place of "you're" in poking fun at my intelligence?

I did fall out of a few high chairs before they lowered them to protect my head, but it was you that wore the drool bib until age 13. Oooooooh! haha! :laughing7:

Just a small bit of update, the Las Vegas offices are staying open for the time being and they hope to have the Chicago regional office, service, point of distribution up and running. More units are getting here as I have recieved some back order items and slowly it is turning about here. Just an update and the Plexus group is a great Co. Hardrock
