found this on saturday at a stone foundation near a old well opening in the woods. when i dug it it looked kinda fat.(thick) and on sunday got around to cleaning it up and this is it-! man its like hitting the lottery-!!. all the large cents i found over the years never thought i find one of these.

Very nice! With my luck, I would have ended up putting a gouge in it with my digging tool, and then I would have spit on it and rubbed off the dirt to see what the heck it was that I found.

Good job keeping it "as dug" and leaving it up to the pros to clean and preserve properly.

Hey JFX ... you hit the Chain Cent lottery twice ! YES...You found a chain cent AND it doesnt have a hole drilled in it !

Had I found it it would have 6 holes drilled in it PLUS initials carved in it :laughing9:

The detail below that caked dirt is not going to chip away. :nono: You should take a toothpick and chip the dirt off of the opposite side of the exposed chain. :icon_salut:
