AZ-Mtnman who would think of demolishing ? well, farms and land are disappearing at fast rate in
this area to fast for me too keep up i'm trying to save the relics but, seems like a losing battle
it's called PROGRESS > sic < there is a + the barn and house might be dismantled + relocated

i can't take the summer heat

Great old log house & property. Seems to me that a two story log house that old is kinda rare.
I've seen one preserved in Grantsville, Md. that has a plaque that reads, one of the first 2-story
log cabins built west of the Alleghenies. Great place & more than likely rather uncommon.

thanks Tubecity we have pretty many in Berks Co. i know of 2 much larger ones that have i'm
guessing 8 or more rooms in them i don't have any photos of them though......yet

Nice property you visited, brings back memories. Progress is sad to see sometimes, dismantiling, destroying moving of old buildings is heartbreaking sometimes. I know my Sister-in-Law is or was on the Board of Directors for some Historic Preservation Committee in Berks County, she has sent me information in the past, plus helped me research my ancestor's property which used to be darn near if not on the land she lives right now at the Oley/Exeter township border.
I have a couple photographs I took on a genealogy research trip to that area, that is of one of my GGGGGGrandfathers farm from the late mid 1700's, the house on there now is I believe from the 1850's. I will look for it and post later.

hi Don glad you like it i agree i feel a loss for everyone i 1st try to save the relics and if thats not
possable i take a lot of photos of it i wish i lived closer to,and knew a few people in the Oley/Exeter area
i'm looking forward to seeing the photos when you post them
