I think I am finally beginning to get better at using my M6. Today I hunted at the park close to home, and park workers have told me it has been well hunted, after work for about 2 hours and I had my first 3 old coin day. I found a wheat penny that I can't get the date from yet, a 1937 Buffalo nickel, and my 2nd silver coin ever, a 1943 Mercury dime in pretty decent shape. Still a newbie and that Merc really got my heart pounding for the rest of the afternoon. I was concentrating on iffy and deep signals and 8-10 VDI signals that JuJu mentioned a couple of days ago that lead to jewelry for him. I didn't get any this time, but I am not one to give up. HH all, and good luck out there.

I only had a few mins after work to do a little swinging tonight before the rain came and drove me out of the park. I set my disc. at less than the factory number 1 setting and turned my sens up to nearly 100 or a touch above the factory setting. I didn't find much, four dimes and 3 pennies. But I had been over this ground or most of it once before a few weeks ago. I did get deep readings, although I believe the M6 was telling me the coins were deeper than they really were on this sort of a setting, can anyone else confirm my suspicions.............or is it just me or my particular machine? I did find a bunch of "real" foil at the 8-10 vdi reading, no gold I know of, however, I did bring home a rock to check out more closely. Yup, I said it, a rock, but it registers an 8-10 on the vdi reading that JuJu mentioned leads to gold. And believe it or not the rock does show some orange in it, but more like a paint or a rust. It didn't have an iron reading though, no negative numbers. I have washed the rock and later on tonight or in the morning I will pass the coil over it again. Here again, I wonder, has anyone else experienced such a thing. I know you are going to ask for pics of the rock, but I don't have a clue how to add pics on here and it doesn't look like gold.............but I am a little puzzled by the vdi reading on it. Thanks for any in put.

I've found that if the rock has iron in it and has a lot of oxidation, that can throw the number off.

That's great! The M6 is one terrific machine and worth the attention. Keep at it.
