found this coin a while ago and took me forever to clean it up so I can read a little bit. The reverse side is absolutely unreadable.

I think this is a German (or European) copper Kreuzer.

The shield/crest topped with a crown nothing else but on the left of the crest there is a # "1" and on the right side there is a "C"

I looked at hundreds of pictures showing Kreuzer but non had that shape of the crown and the crown being wider than the crest below and no further marking except the "1" and "C"

Can anybody help?

Many thanks for your suggestions and replies.

I'm just not sure but could it be 1 Deut? The Netherlands are not far and people travelled a lot from West Europe to the East.

The crown of a Deut is slightly larger than the shield/crest below.

Found exactly the same a while ago, for me the "W" side war barely readable and it was an 1818. Took a while to figure out ......

Either its just me and my bad luck or the Dutch or Belgian coopers must have a bad cooper: They decay more badly than old-german coins.

In any way a nice find!
