I pretty much just need to know an average date. There are soooo many fields and in each one I'm finding different things, so to get an idea of which one to cover first I need to know which ones were in use longer. Also, was this a button of some sort? The sides are actually kind of sharp, it looks like it might be but I have no idea. Thanks!! Oh yeah, I finally took a pic of the house thats on the farm. Behind it is an old tavern but the owners asked me to not detect around it because of their yard >:( oh well, I can respect that. The trash was the last 3 trips out there...and trust me, there is a CRAP load of it. The medal was my first find...all were found in a small section of the field that hasn't been planted yet.

Nice buckle... looks like a standard horse tack buckle... still made today so dating it should be nearly impossible.

That second piece is usually considered an umbrella piece... the part that holds the ribs at the top of the umbrella, but with that rusty piece across the center I have no idea, prolly a locking pin of sorts.

The third piece looks like a sash buckle... date ?? I'm just guessing on that.

Very cool medal, can you see a date?It looks old and like the field is worth going back again and again..Goodluck..Relic

Montana Jim is correct. The parasol piece is very common in CW camp sites. I have found 4 in known Yankee camps. Looks like you may be on to a good site. Good hunting and keep us posted!

Not sure why they would be anymore common on a CW site than any other ploughed field. I find them in nearly every field I do.

They are common at old homesites too... though NOT as common as in your neck-of-the-woods.

Keep going back.....coins should be there somewhere.

Yep. I find them at just about every housesite. Took me FOREVER to figure out what the heck I had! I'd found a dozen of 'em before I even knew what they were. :P

Nice sash buckle (circular brass). It seems like every one of those I see posted or find myself is different--just the same as with the suspender clips. The iron buckle is horse-related.

Regards,

Buckles

To be honest, I found them for years (hundreds) before someone on Tnet IDed them for someone else. I thought they may have been farm related as they turned up everywhere :icon_scratch: I don't keep them, but I like to understand rubbish as much as the finds ;D

Now that's what I calla sack full of finds with some very nice relics. The field looks like it will have many more finds.

nice finds  maybe he'll let you on the back spot soon, do a good job on your holes so he know you won't tear up his back yard.

I think you need to carry a bigger sack too lol HH there
