I have this tool that was found after tilling a field in Franklin County, MO.
It is about 2.5 inches wide,4.5 inches tall, .5 inches thick.
There appears to be a piece of a fossilized shell in the rock?
Do you think this was used as some kind of digging tool? Do you know what type of rock this could be? Is it a common tool? Please tell me anything you know about this :)
Thanks

Looks like it was a hoe to me.

I go with quito on it being a hoe and the fossil looks to be part of a plant, I bet you could post it in the fossil section on here and they could help with that. It's a very good find.

there are a lot of fossils in your area. It could be coral or plant. What are the odds of finding not only a beautiful artifact, but one with a fossil!?? Lucky you!

I've heard archaeologists call them "celts". They may not be common, but we found three on our farm in Ste. Genevieve County. One had some sort of carving on the side. Yours seems to be flaked, at least on the edges. Ours were of a hard polished stone.

Nice hoe my friend good find !!!

yep i agree.....a hoe w/a fossil......very cool!

Glad you found all in one piece. I agree it looks like a hoe.
