First I'd disappear from where I live with no forwarding information! People would say "Whatever happened to that long-haired dude with all the old cars that lived over there? He just vanished!"
After recovering from my weeklong bender(lots of booze, hookers and other stuff
), I'd set up a foundation. My legal representative would pick up the check and no one would know who I am at any time if at all possible.
I'd take care of my two brothers and my folks(of course) and my best friend and his mom. Oh, and I guess, my girlfriend...
I'd buy a nice farm somewhere. set it up to be as self-sufficient as possible. Plenty of room for me, my bikes and cars.
Finish learning to fly.
The town I live in has a big problem with crime and drugs. It's a real shame as it used to be nice place to live before the slumlords, section 8 and the local prison population's relatives took over(in the last 20 years, rental permits went from 400 to 4000 units in a town of 28000).
In this down real estate market many of these rentals are up for sale. I'd take a chunk of the money and start another foundation. This one would buy the properties, evict the trash(providing an instant boost to the area), evaluate them and restore the ones that could be restored back into single-family homes(thus keeping my next door neighbor and car buddy and his crew busy for years doing the work). The ones deemed too far gone(most of them) would be demolished and replaced with modular energy-efficient homes. Some properties would be consolidated into single lots so that a single home would now be where three were crammed together, making for a family-friendly setting with a nice yard.
Then the foundation would sell them to people at a very reasonable price, thus promoting homeownership in the area. All these property improvements would actually make the city money in increased tax revenue on higher property values. The city fathers claim to want this to happen but don't back it up with actions. Hopefully, they'll be out the door this November. if I won a fortune between now and them, I'd heavily fund the opposition!
The first one would go to an aquaintance of mine for $1. She's a great person and an asset to the neighborhood. She'd probably be running a good part of the foundation.
