Outback there are huts there, I even have a video of one found there 2 aprils ago...at that time we gained permission to dig some huts... but to put this as delicatly as possible the slow butt missouri guys waited too long to show back up to dig them and the owners friend convinced him that his ground will be destroyed so he said no when we finally showed up to do hut digging hes a wonderful 82 year old man and I'm not gonna pressure him to dig huts when he said no. he is gonna cut the hay pretty low for us I'm gonna leave it at that. we are lucky for this oppertunity he and his wifes health are failing fast this may be the last hunt there.

I agree, get too greedy or have one bad egg ignore the wishes of the land owner and it is off for all of us. Keep this as a friendly gathering, chance to meet each other type deal and hope to find a bullet or two and we all have fun. Get greedy and decide to dig a house foundation, the day will be ruined for everyone. The land owner has to be a good soul to allow this many folks on his property to enjoy the day. Don't do anything that would make a couple friendly country folk distrust metal detectorists. It would be a black eye for all of us.

JD it's not the nails or pulltabs, it's those darn Missouri landmines all over the place. (U know-those funky rocks that keep covering the goodies and are sometimes as big as car hoods.) LOL

Hubby and I are trying to come up with a way to fit in all the activities of the hunt. I was going to just do the hunt, but we're trying to figure out how we can make it up for the Friday night gig and then stay over for the after-the-hunt bonfire, etc. It'll be a long drive, but worth it.

Does anyone know about any hotel/motels that might still be available close by, or any camp grounds? We can sleep in our truck (have mattress, will travel).

I just hate to pass up the nighttime activities and miss out on the fun! Thanks to all in advance for any help.

I've been meaning to post this ever since reading about all the musicians coming!

I have a violin I can bring if there is someone that can play the "fiddle" (as opposed to "violin"). I'm hopeless on fiddle (style) cuz my mom insisted I learn "classical." Oh well.

Hi Nan,
Am bringing a keyboard and hubby with fiddle. Anybody who wants can play the keyboard. I'm like you - learned classical and church music. Hubby does fiddle and violin. I want to hear you! Am digging out a few Civil War tunes to wake up the ghosts. My major problem is I play not by ear but by music. Sure is a drag sometimes, but I've decided I'm too much of an old dog to learn those new tricks.
