Went on a walk around my private woods and found this interesting rock (interesting to me at least). I was wondering if any of you had an opinion on it being used as a fire starter of sorts or if it’s just a dumb rock. Thank you all for any suggestions! image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Very odd doesn't look like just a rock it might be some type of fossil but I don't know. It almost looks like two things either a fossilized knot hole from a tree or you might see if your area has any geothermal activity because it also kind of looks like a mud volcano top. Google mud volcano we have them in Southern California close to Indio/Palm Springs area.

Looking at the bottom, it is interesting that there is a round-like feature near the center (that probably lines up with the hole on the other side) that reminds me of a plant stalk. Also note the lines radiating out from it like spokes on a wheel. In a way it looks like a fossilized mushroom with the insides flushed out.

Consider moving to the rocks sub-forum.
