I agree...(bite my tongue)...It has apparent "use" marks on the tips ..as if it was either turned ....or removed alot....(still on it)

Although it looks a bit small to be functional...it could be a handle for an old flat iron (the kind you would put on the woodburning stove)...my mother has a few in her collection of stuff and has one with a similar handle. It was more common for them to have a cast/stamped iron and wood handle...but the slots at the bottom look familiar.
