Found this several years ago, can’t remember exactly where but sure of central va. Was cleaning out garage today and re-found it laying amongst the clutter. Is it a) worked, but not finished, b) finished and broken and some type/thing I’ve never seen, or c) a rock?

Quartzite. There are two types, ortho and meta. Ortho is knappable, meta is not. I can’t tell which type you have but it does look a bit like ortho.

I had been told by a buddy it was quartzite. Didn’t know of the two types or differences in knapping. Thanks

I think just a rock, but just like you it would have caught my eye. That might be a spot you would want to go back to for a closer look around.
