Is it Platinum Or Gold ?

Found a white gold or platinum wedding ring on the beach with (18k plat 950) inside the ring. I do not have a camera to post a picture. Can anyone help me, if not I guess I will take it to a jeweler. There is a small separate band of some kind of metal going around the middle of the ring on the outside. Thanks for any help. GH, Don
