Looks like it has a very well defined dimple to me. Metate or Mortar depending on where you live at.

Thanks for the responses! Unfortunetly my grandfather died in 2004 so I don't have any way to know if there were more relics where he found it at or not, I know he would have saved any if he saw them. The area where it was found was near a creek at the time but is now underneath a lake.
