Is this silver

ok this is a trumpet piece from olds. It says olds Los Angeles. Were parts of the trumpets made of silver and how do I tell it’s silver

Everything I've seen online indicates that it's silver-plated, rather than solid silver. Still a neat vintage piece!

most likely plated. If it was solid it should be stamped "sterling", ".925" or some other indicator of fineness. If you want to be sure, scrape the end of it. Youll probably see yellow or red exposed.

Iv'e never seen any that were silver, but that does not mean that yours isn't. Like Jason said, give it a little scrape on the end, or take it to a jeweler.

Most likely German silver,which is really a nickle alloy.
