I am looking for some Amber slabs or slices. Wondering if anyone here works with amber, and if what I`m looking for is realistic. I have seen amber in 4 colors. Red, yellow, green and the butter color. There may be more colors, I dont know. The sizes I am looking for are like 5" by 3" and 5mm thick, roughly. Polished, with a natural edge. I want one of each. I dont really want to order from overseas. So can anybody point me in the right direction?
Thank you
Lori

The reds, greens and blue ambers are extremely expensive. (you forgot blue)

Haven't worked a lot with amber, but 5"x3" is a pretty big piece - you'd have to expect to pay quite a bit.

Only place I've ever seen pieces in that size range are at rock and mineral shows and usually they are full roughs of the yellow and butter baltic amber. I've never seen large bits of the red and only read about the green and blue. Look around a bit in the web there should be some dealers here in the USA for it is best I can say.

I figured it would be expensive,,all my ideas turn out like that. Thank you for the heads up on blue,,gonna look for it now.

I guess that's a sign of good taste, right? :tongue3:
