Well I have finally found my first piece of jewelry. A Rosary with a small opal in it! I also found an intriguing melted chunk of metal. When I dug it out I found out that it was very heavy. Maybe lead.. I got it home cleaned it and saw that it had a green patina. Scratched the surface and saw that it was copper. I weighed it 4.5 LBS What can cause copper to melt like this. A regular house fire?

On a side note, I purchased the Garrett propointer AT and it is sooooo much easier to use and accurate than the old one I was using.

Let me know guys?

Nice Find ! It would be nice to see a cleaned up close up .

Good Job, clean that thing up and show us a pic.

Has anyone ran into a chunk of copper like this>

Thank you for sharing your hunt and those pictures with us

It could be from a burn pit or something like that. i have found chunks of melted metals before..Nice job

OK so after I got it cleaned up a bit I saw that it was indeed a rosary but not an opal. The front reads "AQUA" across the top. I believe that the center used to hold a small amount of "Holy water" in it. The beads were made from a woodie material that is quite soft and the "silver" is peeling away from the steel body.
