I recently bought an AT Pro after taking 3 years of MD'ing. Its only been a few days...and my pile of finds is growing...so yes there have been a few targets right there in the plug..or just below it....but ive spent too much time over 10 inch holes in parks where I get a nice repeating 70-80 target...and I just cant find anything. Isnt it nice that clad goes almost black after a few years in the dirt? Im almost happy after 5 minutes of digging to find a pop top...at least I knew I dug a repeating target...but when I get a good repeating target...and dig...and dig..and widen the hole...and im 7..8..9 inches down, scraping off the sides, then going deeper...and standing up and re-swinging and yes...its still binging away..but I just...cant...find anything....it isnt fun anymore...I want to go to my car and leave. Will another $120 investment in a pro pointer change that? I hope so.

Love Ours and going to buy a second soon for red so we can dig targets 2 time faster!!!!! red digs one the i scan and dig the next then we don't have to Share one!!!! I've never sold a pinpointer to a person, that didn't come back and say they didn't know how they got along with out one. With that said good pinpointing technique with your detector is important also. Make sure when you find a target, you slow down and pinpoint while looking at the depth. If the depth is 1-2" then resist the temptation to dig deep when you don't see the target. The target will be shallow. I still dig to China every once in a while with a tricky target, but the average will be right there. Don't know if I helped A slow cris cross pattern and watching the depth display can save A LOT of digging. Happy hunting!

You won't regret buying the ProPointer, as long as you don't dunk it in the water. Its water resistant, but not water proof. I love mine and won't ever leave home without it.

Try different ways to pinpoint. I find that pinpointing off the front of the coil then pinpoint at the center of the coil helps me get pretty close.

I hunted for two years without a pinpointer and one year with one.

Unless I'm at the beach, I will never hunt without one again.

If you have the money, buy it! I tried to get by with some cheaper models in the beginning but then caved in and bought the propointer. It truly does pay for itself. I think it's the missing link to you not getting frustrated and wanting to give up. The propointer will change your detecting life and I'm willing to bet it puts a smile on your face the first day you use it.

Yes don't waste any $ on a cheaper one. Pro pointer is way to go!! Saves a TON of time.

Just one Garrett Propointer?

I finally got me 2nd propointer. My 1st one has held up with countless hours of use but....when it breaks (not if....WHEN!) I'll have a backup. My wife helps me dig. Once all my targets are "marked" (with a painted bbq skewer, painted golf ball tee, or roofing nail) I go back and help her dig with the 2nd propointer! Extremely useful.

A decent pinpointer is invaluable in my opinion. And the Pro Pointer is a very good pinpointer, worth the price.

I am new to MD'ing also. Have only actually been doing it for 3 days. Was getting so frustrated with not being able to find a target. Went out and bought my pro pointer today and was amazed at the difference and the time it saved. :-)

Garrett Pro Pointer is worth every penny. Good product. I dropped mine on a concrete floor HARD and it works fine.

I have had a White's Bullseye I Pinpointer and a Garrett's ProPointer. There is NO doubt in my mind now which is the best.....the ProPointer. You will find it will not only speed up your recovery, but will also keep you from digging an unsightly (and embarrassingly) large hole.

It slipped out of my hand in the garage and smacked the floor very hard. It was a good 4 foot fall.
Now, I put all my stuff in a gear bag before I enter and leave the house.

The ProPointer works fine however, and that did impress me because it was impacted hard.

Pin pointer is a must have. I have a White's Bullseye II which isn't very impressive at all. My next one will probable be the Garrett.
Until you get a pin pointer put your dirt on a rag and swing it in front of your coil.

If your digging deep holes and your still getting solid hits on your machine, take my advice and fill in the hole because your chasing a large piece of deep iron.

I have to agree. The Garrett ProPinpointer WILL CHANGE YOUR MDING LIFE!! I NEVER EVER go out without it! No more digging big giant holes looking for a target only to give up. Makes mding so much easier and the Garrett is worth every penny!!!
