It pays to be nice to tellers

Had my favorite teller call to tell me that the recent widow had returned to cash in some more of her late husbands coin collection. I showed up with boxes of chocolates for all 3 tellers, and picked up the batch of silver goodies. Too bad there were no full bags of pennys or dimes from the counter this time.

I know of two tellers like that. I chatted with one of them about her finds a few weeks ago, a younger gal with a pleasant disposition that works at a bank in Cleveland TN. The other cherry-picker is a grumpy old gal that never smiles or greets customers. It's amusing to watch most customers avoid her station as they enter the bank. I like to dump lots of rolled clad at her branch. It gives her a lot to do searching through rolls of dumps. I wouldn't even bother to go there except I get a lot of loose silver from the other tellers there. It's almost as if they're intentionally trying to keep the silver they find away from her

The teller that calls me works at a branch of a different bank. Two of the three closest branches of that bank have installed coin machines in the past month or so. The only coins I dump at her branch is halves, and she is the teller that I usually take my bags of halves to. The coin machine is in the back room, so the tellers there have to dump the coins, then come out with the counter ticket and count out my cash. I also buy full bags of pennies and dimes from the coin machine at that branch, I may add quarters again soon. At that bank, the tellers are not allowed to buy coins for themselves. All coins are kept in the tellers drawer instead of in trays on their side of the stations. So it's not hard for them to set aside certain coins.

Getting a few Rosies and a couple Mercs once in awhile, is to expected I guess in our game. But when you get 100+ year old quarters and halves especially, that is as good as it gets. Ride the wave man. Offer to get those girls something different if they want it. They are your new best friends. Outstanding!!
