It's about TRIME!

Finally! After 35 years I found one. Also dug a 62 Rosie, a "one thin dime" play money and half of an old pocket knife. Had a great hunt! The 3 center is soooo thin I don't know how it lasted this long, it's really worn but the last number is a 4 I believe looking at it with a loop. That would put it at 1854 or 1864.

Very cool coin. Congrats on a really nice find!

got my 1852 on May 2. it was next to a rusted nail at 8" down. the ACE 250 was ringing iron, penny and dime at all directions and speeds. after deciding to dig I cleared the iron nail from the pile, then the ACE showed solid dime. the fun was finding that TINY coin in the dirt pile. when it first showed itself I thought it was some sort of Jewish charm since the star was showing. WHAT A THRILL!!!. I have the coin listed on Ebay for $123

I too think it needs to be said - these little three cent silvers are a pretty tough find ! they do show up here now and then ,
but I think they're in the sort of hard to find category of a Flying Eagle cent ! or a Draped Bust copper !! Excellent find .

I agree! :) I haven't found a Flying Eagle or a Draped Bust yet. :(

Wow that's great!, congrats on a tough coin to find!
I thought I had one earlier this season, super thin, small coin came out, ended up being a 1794 1/2 reale, I guess that's just as good but I'd certainly like one of those one day!

Great find. Those things are so small, it's a wonder we don't find more of them. Can you imagine dropping one in grass and trying to find it? I am sure the grass in lawns during those days was much longer than lawn mowers today leave it.
I found one lying on the sidewalk about 25 years ago probably in OKC. I didn't know what it was except that it was an old coin. I called a coin/jeweler dealer and he told me what it was by my description and that it was only worth a couple bucks. Needless to say I kept it ( until my ex wife took it ), because I thought it was pretty neat.
