I've solved our economic problems!!!!

Patriotic retirement:

There's about 40 million people over 50 in the work force. Pay them $1 million apiece severance with stipulations.

1) They leave their jobs. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.
2) They buy NEW American cars. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed.
3) They either buy a house/pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed.

I'll make WAY more than $1M between the ages of 50 and 65. Most professional people are in the same boat I'm in. These days $1M isn't enough to retire on for most people. The healthcare costs alone will run you up to $200k over 15 years. And that's assuming you don't have any health problems.

I was just curious, so I did the math. $1 million going out to 40 million people comes out to $40,000,000,000,000.00. $40 trillion dollars. By the time the gov't finished printing that much cash, they'll have to reprint the whole wad again to cover the inflation they caused by the first printing.

Now in honesty.....the govt should have hired economic advisors for areas that are having the worst economic prices. Given their base company the money they invested in the companies and in the cash for clunkers as well as other programs recently developed in order to help the economy and every person in that area should have recieved a part of the money that was invested in the base company and when people need something and dont have their own money for it they talk to the economic advisors and the economic advisors would give the people the option to buy from american made companies and that would be the only way for the people to get their money. Limitations would need to be set so each person would get a fair amount.

Well, sure, I got that from your first post, but what do you suggest specifically? What do you do away with, what sort of new programs do you create, that sort of thing? What are your solutions for the homeless problems, health care problems, jobless problems, etc, etc, etc?
See, it's my own opinion that if someone wants to get rid of the current situation, then they surely must have some good ideas to add to the new situation.

Remember, there is no quick fix in aiding the economy and never was before. If there was an easy way, I'd say let's put Larry the Cable Guy in office. At least he'll "get r dun". These are tough times and I know a good sense of humor can help one get through it, at least partly

Well the first order of business would be to stop the printing presses. If you are in over your head in debt, the solution is not to create even more debt. The solution is to get out of debt and pay for everything from then on without going into debt.

What programs would you cut in order to decrease the spending?

mcgearhead has raised many good points. I know that when I was young I was taught you didn't buy something unless you had the money to pay for it. Credit was not a word used in my household. At a very early age I learned the value of money and how to save it. Is credit necessary for today, I say yes, and no. You should have credit and if I use a credit card I pay off the balance, that way there is no finance charge.

I also agree that we have to think outside the box and come up with solutions that may seem drastic, but if they work, so be it.
