Ivory, gold and stones (What kind?)

I paid $2 at an estate sale. Its tiny, but gold is gold. Both the clasp (hole side) and the ring that holds the pendant to the chain are marked 14K. The spring side of the clasp is a replacement and is not gold. The chain really thin, it's got a couple of knots that I think I'm just going to leave for the buyer to mess with. I think the heart is ivory, if you have other ideas I'm open to them. I have no idea what the stones may be.

I had a girlfriend at one time who had a small chain necklace that got knots in it. I used a magnafying glass, (her holding it), and me using 2 needles to unknot the chain. It worked without breaking the chain.

You might try that.

Yeah , I am 99.9% sure your right an they are real stones... If it is real Ivory that is some really old jewelery.... but I am not sure you can sell it .... can you take a super close pic of the heart?

Hey HarleyMan, I played with it a little bit, but no GF to hold a magnifier.

Wow Cntrydncr1 and creeper71, that would be very cool if it really was 3 rubies, a sapphire and an emerald! I'm not positive it's ivory, it just strikes me that way. below are the best images I could get; 4 mp camera on tripod with a wireless remote to prevent camera shake. Diffused lighting. Rotated, cropped close and downsized to 850 pixels wide.

I'm guessing a date for this as between 1907 and 1922. The chain has a mark that could be the Attleboro Chain Co., founded in 1907 and renamed to Marathon in 1922.

I am not a expert on this type of stuff, but I have very basic knowledge... I beleive it maybe some type of bone maybe whale bone

Beautiful item! Pour out a little baby powder on a plate and roll the chain around in it. The knots will come out easily. You can used the heated pin trick to see if the ivory is real.

I believe it's bone.. possiblly whale

Well spotted batcap!
A well educated guess (30 years in jewellery trade) is that these are natural gemstones. Sapphire, ruby and emerald. To get the knots out of the chain just roll the knotted area of chain firmly between thumb and fingers, works every time to loosen the knot.

If your selling it on ebay, do not claim it to be ivory, it will be removed. Been there done that.

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions. Hopefully I won't have to resort to eBay. At Creeper's suggestion I sent the pic's to Heritage Auctions( http://www.ha.com ) . Maybe they will buy or consign it to an upcoming auction. I read up a bit and decided against the hot pin trick; I'm confident it's not plastic, and the lines on the back that run from the upper left to the bottom might be Schreger lines.
