My dad gave me this when i was a kid. and i would like to know where it came from our how much it is worth maybe..

I would HAVE to guess it's an elephant ivory... hence the elephant-walk depicted in the artwork. 

Without knowing it's origins or the artist, or the age... I can't see HOW you'll learn anything more about it shourt of finding an exact (or close) known example.

I also would guess it's a low-end example of work... probebly much produced and touristy.

I would just like to reiterate that I cannot provide any useful information on this find.

take a pair of pliers and a sewing needle heat it up and in a unseen to eyes place try and insert the hot needle if it goes right in it is either plastic or resin i also reitterate that i know nothing about ivory other than a racoon penis bone is considered american ivory

It could be Chinese - The number 7 (七, Pinyin: qī) symbolizes "togetherness". It is a lucky number for relationships. The elephant in Chinese symbolism means Strength and Astuteness.

If it smells like hair, its ivory.

One item that I can contribute, is that if it is determined to have an African provenance over an Asian, that is no guarantee either that it is made of ivory.

That is one of the big games over there; trick Mizungu into buying your "ivory" or "amber" or "ancient mask".

i would guess you are right, when I first looked at the post I missed the top doen view, the side views look like polar bears.
