Today a fellow Tnet member and I hit up a few of my local sites. Site 1 and 2 there were no good finds to speak of. Then we went to site 3, also not much worth mentioning. Then just about quitting time I dug this 1855 O Half! Yeah! :laughing7: Finds from site #3. 018.JPG Some broken clay pipe surface finds and the half. 019.JPG 020.JPG 021.JPG

Crisp looking large piece of seated silver! Congrats

Very nice silver.

For some reason I am un able to upload the in situ pics. Tinman took a crummy video and actually has some good pics. Hhhmmm,, possibly he could post them?

Great looking half. I'd certainly be pleased with those clay pipe frags as well. You should be able to date the site by measuring the bore diameter of the pipe stem.

Thanks! Yes this sites zenith was mid 1800's. Some pipe frags from this and last hunt. 022.JPG

Sweet half. She's a beauty.
Sometimes it really pays to dig "just one more" hole eh??

Congrats.

Congratulations !, I am content anytime I can find a silver coin, a silver half dollar would make my season, and a seated half like that is still just a wish for me. I am curious to know if you found it with the GTI, or the Whites, and if the GTI, how it read, what depth it was, and which coil was on it??? Just in case I ever get so fortunate as to pass my coil over one. HH

I was using the DFX... Relic mode. 2500 seems to work better at parks " trash areas". My 2 cents. The more you actually do the leg work the more likely you will pass over one.

Gotta tell ya I know it probably won't qualify but in my book that's a Gaspipe Banner find! Very cool.

Na,,, The gold coin I need to find..

Stuff like this is rare in my area... The Native Americans were only gone for 25 years when the 55 half was minted.........

Very nice! congrats.

That silver is in amazing condition!
