Just Missed It

Went to a few banks today. Normally I hate going to banks on Fridays due to payday traffic. I had to fight for a parking spot at one of the banks I visited. Took me a while but I found one. As I was entering the bank I politely held the door for a gentleman that was walking out. When he passed me I noticed he was holding a fairly large canvas bag of coin. From what I can tell the bag had rolled coin. Definitely halves. Must have been close if not over $500 worth. It was most likely someone else's dump but CWRs are rare in this area so it could have been a partial collection. I could only imagine what was in those rolls. This just goes to show this hobby is all about being at the right place at the right time.

On a positive note I found a bank close to work that has a coin counter. One the newer fast coin counters! Hello new dump bank!

Yea most likely a dump but with all the "take them all" stories floating around, I was imagining a few solid rolls in that canvas bag.

i got back from vacation last night, went around to banks 9 hours away, lots of "somebody just bought them" "we're saving these for somebody else" "you can have some but not all of them, other customers come in asking too"... but i did manage $160 in halves: $120 in re-taped N.F. String rolls and $40 CWR, no silver. I now understand why i get so many "taped" half dollars, rewrapped dumps.

can't hurt to buy as many as you can, you never know!
time to rip through $132 in nickels and $29 in pennies now
