But it is better to watch a documentary about the work of the guys on this island. I would gladly have visited the island Zhokhov.

Zhokhovskaya site is one of the most northern archaeological sites in the world. Scientists consider it the oldest trace of a person’s stay in high latitudes, indicating the development of these territories about 8 thousand years ago.

During this period, the modern Novosibirsk Islands were part of the land. A permanent camp was located on the seashore, where from 25 to 50 people lived. About a third of them were active hunters who left the camp for reindeer fishing. On the remains of animals at this place, scientists were able to restore the annual cycle of inhabitants of the site.

During the excavations on the island of Zhokhov, archaeologists identified the remains of four men and women. A genetic study showed that they belong to a group of Western Eurasian origin. Presumably these people came from the north of Western Siberia or from the Urals.

One can only guess ... in Russia such items are called “lunnitsa” (crescent).
Many scholars and archaeologists refer them to ritual objects, since it is not possible to invent a practical purpose for these objects.

I can send them to you for testing. Obsidian, the one that is bigger, in full can fit like a scraper. Two others of flint ... I could not use them.
All the scrapers I collected were formed by types and species.
This is a laborious process, as there are a lot of them. Scrapers of each type - a few dozen pieces.
The ratio of "Crescents" - three items to a thousand other types.

I would think a tied on pendant. I know the Mandan tribe in Nd. made items that were that shape, but I don't think theirs were chipped.

Thank you Geradot for those pics Those pictured are similar to our Great Basin crescents but without having them in hand I'd say just the top one is a true crescent. Most of ours are made of a chert but many are obsidian or basalt as well.Our true crescents are nearly always ground smooth in the center portion also. They are usually very carefully made and some are true works of art. There are others not quite as carefully made.
I still believe in the transverse theory where they were hafted on shafts and hurled at fowl. Who really knows at this time though. We find crescents fairly often and I have seen quite a few. They are a unique and mysterious artifact Here are some pics of some of mine. I have more but can't find pics,one I was picking up a nice white uniface crescent. Also here is a type of point called a Black Rock Concave,they are frequently found with crescents

The ones that you think may be amulets look like they could just be hafted knives or scrapers , the crescents are odd to me because how small they are
