Kind of new at this. Quick question!

I started doing this a couple of months ago and have had somewhat decent luck, but heres what happened to me a couple weeks ago...

My girlfriend and I picked up 4 boxes, not flat ones, two layer "boxier" ones...

went through all 2 grand, not one keeper...


My question is, are there people out there that roll these and dump them in boxes... I think the rolls were machine rolled, they had the rolled up lip on each end so you can see some of the coin...

Should I just avoid buying boxes at that bank? Or did I just have crappy luck on those four?

Yup, but I doubt you'd get four boxes worth. I got about a half box that had been re-rolled.

I have had no luck with 5x5x2 half dollar boxes.

Also, I am on an 8-box half dollar skunk, yup. $4,000in half dollars, 8,000 coins, and not one keeper. The odds are against you.

Only 4 skunk boxes is nothing. Thats very common in this hobby.

It is just the luck of the draw. In my opinion it doesn't matter who the courier is you either have to get down further on the pull pallet or have collections of silver dumped into the system, it is as simple as that I get both Brinks and Loomis and both can either be good or bad. Just keep at it as persistence and volume are key in this Madness. ALWAYS ask for hand roll at the banks you frequent. Good Luck. Dennis.

The manager obviously wouldnt tell me how many boxes of halves he had in the vault, and when he asked me why I wanted them and I told him I was looking for silver he kinda smirked at me... sort of made us think that he might already have someone else that was coming in and doing the same thing... but I definitely plan on keeping at it, my credit union ordered me two boxes that Im picking up on friday.


What is everyones feeling on dimes? I might pick up a couple boxes of them tomorrow or thursday.

Three years ago I started searching dimes. That was a time when they thought you crazy. Nowadays, everyone's crazy.

Its all just luck. You can have 10 skunks in a row, and wham a box of 20 or more coins. you just have to keep looking. Now for the new guy Uncleslick. 18. Never ever mention the word SILVER to any teller or other person in the bank. If they ask, just say you are looking for key dates. HH

4 boxes is no big deal , i probably get that almost every day if i do 5k halves.

you'll find some sooner or later.
