White's Pro XL
Today, at 8 a.m. Eastern time, zoy and I arrived at our good bud, PACO's, home. As we were getting out of our "Treasure Vehicle," PACO was walking out with his bottle of water and crackas in his right hand and his datecta in his left. Indeed, that MXT is a beautiful machine. I think I even stated, "Dude, that detector is pretty." Before we left his home, PACO looked over at zoy and said, "I want to stop at the Uni-mart and get a sandwich." Sooo, we finally arrived at the mart and PACO got his breakfast (while in the mart, he saw the landowners relative, so he stopped and talked for a minute): Next stop: the Best Farm in PA!

We arrived at the field in about 5 minutes...we could have gotten there earlier, but PACO was eating his egg sandwich and was driving 5 miles/hour under the speed limit...damn it! hahaha We geared up and walked out to the area that was producing last week. We even stated, while walking out, "I bet the Tnet forum would love to see this site! Heck, they would love to see the Tnet celebrities detect on this detecting Sunday." LMAO

We tuned our machines and were in full concentration mode. Ten minutes after my GB, I excavated a nice flat but-tin. I yelled, "Gotta but-TIN!" I then started to grid, like KirkPA the professional always does on these kind of sites. After I recovered the but-tin, zoy was yelling out an awesome find (I will let him tell you about it). After the celebration, I got back to datectin'. About a half-hour later, I got a "Half" dollar reading on my awesome White's machine that pinpointed at 6". I flipped some historic soil out of the hole and a exposed a green disc. I yelled, "Large coppa!" The dudes came over and congratulated me (it may sound old hearing that we celebrate for each coppa coin, but that is what we do. This is what the hobby is allll about). It turned out to be a corroded Coronet cent!

After my coppa excavation, zoy and I started to grid this area. Then, a bellow came from about 30 yards away: it was PACO hooting about his latest recovery (I will let him tell you about it). We were on a metal detecting roll! After THAT celebration ended, I decided to focus on the area where I recovered my Coronet...I then got a nice "Quarter" hit that pinpointed at 5". I slammed some dirt down and exposed another green disc: "Large coppa!" The dudes came running from their metal detecting directions...we celebrated some more (we are very zesty. I told you, Mona!). The coin turned out to be an 1822 Coronet cent in decent condition. It was counterstamped with a pretty flower design on the obverse and reverse. I bet this coin is worth thousands. LMAO/kidding

After my 2nd coppa for the day, zoy was yelling out another great find (he will tell soon). After his great find, he was yelling out another awesome find. In the mean time, I was recovering but-tins...I found a nice Dandy and 4 other dime-sized buttons. We were all in the same area at this time...we kept talking about how great we are...how awesome this farm is....how we are the best in Central PA...how some dudes will be jealous of our finds...etc.

We all had our pockets full of relics! Before we were about to call it a day, PACO yelped out another great find (he will show-and-tell tonight). This field was coughing up super old coins and relics! I think I even proclaimed, "This site should make it on the Best of Tnet board. If not, someone has issues with us." The day soon ended after that KirkPA controversial statement! We were soon at our vehicles, talking about how great this site has been! In two trips, I found 2 Coronets, a Draped Large cent, 1835 Capped Bust half dime, 9 but-tins, and 3 dropped musketballs. Indubitably, we will be heading back to this site on Thursdee...I still think there are about 5 coins still in reach...we will have to wait for the plow then.

Thanks for reading my awesome thread! I am the very best! hahaha

*All relics were found on private property with consent from the landowners, who usually ride their horses every Sundee afternoon.

Here is a pic of my but-tin haul from Sundee. Check out the Dandy but-tin...too bad it was "decked" by the plow. The one to the right of the Dandy has a "Wells & Son London" backmark. :o Gotta love them but-tins!

I thought you had a Minelab MD??

Nice find!
All I am finding is junk and modern coins. Nothing older than 1965.

Nice coppas Kirk!! WTG dude.

That asterisk coin is way ahead of it's time huh, with the Barry Bonds records issue and the cell phone commercials using it. ;D

Congrats!

Nice finds again Kirk, I wish I knew what and why that mark is there, but sometimes people got bored I guess. Don't know if you remember, but I posted a Draped Bust Large Cent my son found years ago and it looked like the mark was raised like from the die, but it was not, and final conclusion was it was knife cuts that layed over and reason,- boredom :)

If there are any woodlots close to where those coppers are coming from I surely would be hitting them also. Might find one that is not fertilized damaged in the process.

Nice Large Cents - though you're going to get to a point where they just aren't that exciting anymore!

Don, I was thinking the same thing: Boredom. I brought that up to zoy, while in the field. It definitely is my best-looking Large cent. We will be hitting the tavern site next weekend. My bro and I were going to hit it Saturday, but I had a little mishap the night before. My girlfriend's dog attacked my face...I needed to get about 24 stitches on my upper lip and about 4 on my lower. The swelling is finally going down. But, KirkPA didn't let swollen lips keep him away from detecting.

I forgot to mention, while in the E.R. and before I got my mangled lips sutured, I looked at Stacia and said, "I must detect on Sunday!" My passion is that extreme! :D

No snappy commites to Monas response Kirk????? are ya'll having a tiff??
Perhaps this was purly a profesional post and no time(yet) for jovial retiorick. (He said jealously)

Re: KirkPA: The Other King of Coppas

Damn KP,

24 stitches is a helluva bite! You okay other than that?

I guess as long as you don't look like Deniro in Frankenstein, it's not too bad.

Hope you heal up well.

Re: KirkPA: The Other King of Coppas

Gollum, I am much better now. On Saturday night, my babe, Stacia, was holding her mutt dog and I knelt down to pet him...that was when he snapped...I got bitten on my upper lip and lower. It was a very brutal scene. My upper lip was hanging...there was a severe gash. Thank god for my tough composure...I just put a towel over my mouth and said, "We better leave now."

When I was in the E.R. and before they sutured my lips, I looked over at Stacia and said, "Must detect! Must detect on Sunday!" She couldn't believe I was focused on metal detecting at that time. LMAO I love this hobby with an extreme passion!

Hey, bud, I must have accidently deleted your PMs to me...I was going to reply to them, but I must have made a mistake. Sorry about that!

The dog has attacked before. I just don't know why I got close to his face. The nurses couldn't believe I was joking still, once they saw my bloodied face. LMAO It wouldn't be KirkPA, if he didn't joke, right? ;) :D

The Draped is very worn. I am guessing it was lost around 1835.

I will post a pic of the buttons later tonight. I found a nice Dandy button! Zoy has an awesome relic to show, too. He dug a knife out of the same hole that he retrieved a button from, so the knife must be from the 1820s-1830s. We haven't found anything newer than 1835 at this site (my Capped Bust).
