Lake Creek, CO

Camped over near Independence Pass west of Twin Lakes along Lake Creek yesterday. Great weather finally; 60's in the day and 37 at night. (We have been snowed on over there in June) Runoff is in full swing so don't wade in the creek.

Columbines were the reason I moved to CO. many yrs ago. They were coming up through the snow at Rabbit Ears pass. That did it for me. & the good fishin. looks like some wicked white water!

Hey mamabear, on that plant. I did not know what it was called. I could tell it was related to honeysuckle. So I did some research and came up with red columbine. However, the US Forest Service says that plant doesn't grow in Colorado. But this sure looks like one to me.

Nice to see the wild Columbine, and the snow melt runoff has eroded a lot of river front property here. My neighbors have lost up to twenty feet land to the high water.
