? I'd guess it to weigh close to 20# total. The rod connecting the two spheres is solidly attached and about 3/4" separates them. Also, the rod is about 1" in diameter.
I have studied what the different types could be and it is simple.

The balls are too close together to get your hand, much less a finger grip on our iron balls.

I believe it was stated that they were welded together. No room for hand or finger(?) See picture in hand at begining of post. Curious concave depression where shaft joins balls.
