Last 2 yards - early NY Militia Button found

Hello all -

Found the 1906 Indian and the medal in a yard near Howell Sun the 22nd. When I dug the medal, I thought I had a LC and was initially disappointed. After showing Cory (land owners son I let use my Bounty Hunter), he was very excited and mentioned it was the only award he ever won in school and lost it in 2009 (the day he won it). Rewarding to dig and give someone something that means so much to them! Anyway, the rest of the finds came from a yard last Sat. Both of these yards were "previously hit" and I was surprised to dig such an old NY Militia Button. Front reads EXCELSIOR (motto of New York State). Back side reads SILVER'D SURFACE WARRANTED. Only dug 3 Wheats (41D, 45D, 55). Crotal bell cleaned up nicely and is still ringing. Good luck out there!!

Nice NY Militia! Those are beautiful buttons. I see you also found brass bed finial. I have found several of them.

That's a great button Brent. So far all I've been able to find are plain faced flat buttons. I also like the crotal bell. I just dug my second crotal the other day and am also amazed at how well they clean up and ring, not exactly sure what they're made of. My wife wants to hang them on the Xmas tree and she hopes I find more.

That is one awesome looking button. Too bad the shank is broken. It is a NY100A18 in Tices. Congratulations. I have several, but not in that condition.
