Law of diminishing returns

I always wondered if it was true that the more boxes you do.. the more skunks you get. Does anyone have experience with this.. Say you went from 3-4 boxes to 8 boxes a week, does that lower the amount of keepers you find per box? or does it not matter?

i found when i went from 2 to 4, that happened to me...
if your looking to increase boxes i would get from a different bank vs a current one

I believe that if you go from 2 to 4 boxes a week, you may get more skunks, but your odds of finding a "dream box" or just a typical box with a few silvers doubles in chance.

Depends on what you are looking through. In my experience, the more halves I looked through the more skunks I got, but this is pretty obvious as most of my half boxes are skunks. Started with 2 a week and grew to 20 a week. Skunk, skunk, skunk.... In my area,There are many people looking through halves based on the number of tellers I talk with, so I gave them up and went to dimes only. I do not see diminishing returns on dimes at all. When I would do a few boxes time to time, I was averaging 1-2 per box, with the occasional skunk. For the past 2 months, I average 30 boxes a week and my returns have stayed the same. Dumping is a MUCH easier process also. Counters in my area did not like the halves at all - I can dump 2K in dimes nearly twice as fast as the halves.

I wish I lived in an area where halves were still producing, but when you go 50+ boxes in a row without a single silver, it appears the well is dry so it was time to mine for something else.

Yes the more boxes you do the more skunks you will see. But you have doubled your chances of staying on the silver vein. In the past I used to be able to stay on a vein for weeks because there were fewer hunters. Currently I am lucky if I can stay on the vein for a week.

I agree with you on the dimes.. people don't think too much about dimes.. they are an after thought. People want the big stuff silver dollars, halves, & quarters. You're flying under the radar with the dimes. Plus they made many more of them than silver halves.

Yes, I agree. These silver veins or waves go into boxes that are connected. A big lot of silver if cashed in with get mixed with clad and boxed together. Those boxes are usually the ones that go out together. How a skunk vein happens too. Those are usually a large hoard of dumps. These things do usually go in waves.
