Any ideas what this lead disc with hanging loop is ? medal token or maybe a seal ? it is @ 2 1/2 inch diameter. front face has a uniformed sailor with a ship behind and cannons and cannon balls at his feet. reverse is hard to see but the image is many ships in a bay. It has come from a site where most items are late C17th or early C18th. I wondered if it was for a specific event ? i found 2 of them this one in lead and another identical in bronze but in much worse condition.

Medalllion that Celebrates the Victory of:

Admiral Edward Vernon at the battle of Porto Bello - 22 Nov 1739 - he took Portobello with only 6 ships (therefore should be 6 ships on the medallion?)

This item dates to circa 1740s-1750s :icon_thumright:

Great find Monacoauction and great i.d. Crusader! Would this be an even rarer medal as it has the ribbon loop on it?
