I adore tools and scrapers cause they come in so many different types and styles. Here is some of my better ones I have found with all different lithic types and colors. These are personal finds and found in N. GA........rock

Wow, nice tools folks. Here are a few from my area. Most of the pieces in the frame came from our garden, over ten different colors of Quartzite, some local chert in the bottom right, and some other material in the frame I cant ID. Thanks for looking.

@Viking I see allot of your scrapers from your garden have some nice graver spurs on them. The last one that is oval is interesting with the dip on it. Is it a scraper or something else?

Hi Rock! Just out of curiosity, Do I actually have decent tools here? After getting blasted on my first post, I kinda began thinking that maybe all I did have were pieces of rock and nothing more.
I was feelin a little crazy for a moment. ya know? thanks.

Hey Rock, not sure whats going on with the last piece. Maybe an expedient knife made on a spall, or large flake. I think a scraper would have a steeper edge. It was found just a few feet from the piece on the left, thinking maybe end-scraper or adze on that one. Here are a few more pics of both. The first two pics are of the piece on the left.

I call that wavy flaking. I find them like that also here in my part of GA. I have found out that not all scrapers had fine secondary flaking added to the edges. Some just had the "wavy type" I guess it still worked for them. I don't think it is a preform but a finished tool held in the hand and that is the reason for the dimple, maybe for the thumb?
This one shows even less flaking than yours. Its a whole tool and they even left some of the rind on it for their hand for comfort reasons I guess. It has a bit of damage from the disc near the rind but still a interesting piece.
I really like your hand tool its a cool artifact.

Well......... The material is so hard to tell it doesn't show much detail. Believe it or not if you hang out in this forum allot and study everyones finds enlarge the photos and study the detail of every artifact you will start finding "better" artifacts or rocks. It actually took me a while to determine what was artifacts and what was rocks. I still pick up a rock every once in a while then look at it later and say to myself why did I keep that. Then I pitch it to the weeds. So keep looking and study the posted artifacts. It will click in time, rock

 

[Lone Star]

Its a large hand held chopper. Not as well defined as a Kerville, as the edgework has been crushed, possibly by rough use. The cortex fits the palm of your hand very nicely.
