The 3 detectateers got out today and we were not even sure we would because of all the earlier rain that pounded the area. I was driving a skid steer early this morning at work to repair the washouts. All the childhood years playing with Tonka toys paid off. We started late. We went back to last weeks site that produced alot for the farm as a whole. When we pulled up to the spot we realized that they did not harvest any more from last week. We were bumming. But then we thought"Maybe there is a reason." As soon as we turned our detectors on we spread out like a drop of gasoline in water. I wasn't detecting for 25 minutes when I got a pulltab reading on my analog xl pro. 4 or 5 inches popped a colonial slug (so far) . I will soon tumble it for detail. 2 minutes later and only 10 feet away a nice Q on Quarter found me looking at a Draped Bust Large cent.By then Kirk and Kyle were hovering and hanging on me like a cheap suit. another 2 feet away Bam . I yelled " Uh-Oh" Q on Quarter and pinpointing small like a coin. We huddled on the spot and I wish I had my camera with me to record our antics. 3 inches of moist doit and there it was . A green disk. I thought Kyle was going to pop like a lanced boil. Kirk flew in the air like a jack in the box. That boy can jump like a Watusi warrior. This all happened folks when I pulled it out of the dirt and it was Thick. This coin was large cent sized and thick. It had to be either Chain Cent, Flowing Hair wreath type or Liberty Cap. I played with it alittle and saw the Liberty Cap. I then started bellowing out like a Howler Monkey "It's A Liberty Cap Thicky" over and over and over. This sent the twins into fits of Gibbon dancing. You folks have to realize that the Liberty Cap thicky is the main target of every hunt we go on PERIOD. That made 3 Coppers for me in 5 minutes of swinging. AMAZING. My second liberty cap Large thicky cent and my third over all liberty cap. I also found a half cent liberty cap. All 3 of them have words on the edge of the coin. We are going back tomorrow. Thanks to everyone who reads this post.
Chris

Kirk
Picture Chris Farley dressed in a blonde wig , sitting on a couch during an infomercial and Cher asking him(her) if she started tumbling the coin yet and Chris Farley dressed as a woman nodding his head and saying " I DID"

Nice 5 minutes

What do the words on the edge say?

You looney uncle of a snickety boy, WAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, WAAHOOOOOOOOOOO, :notworthy:

Zeus, I will NEVER forget those three coppa recoveries in 5 minutes. Right after you said, "DRAPED BUST LARGE CENT," I said to myself, "Snickety Boy, this uttster of a datectorist has been just dominating the competition lately!" :notworthy: :icon_salut: Zeus, you uttster, right after you said, "UH OH," Kirk and I came over, knowing 100% that it was going to be a coppa. Right after you pinpointed it and dug some doyt out, I blurted out, "THERE IT IS...GREEN DISC...OH MY...THICK ONE...LIBERTY CAP...LIBERTY CAP!!!!" :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :wav: Folks, I almost had a heart attack after seeing the thick bastid in the hole, and I wasn't even the one digging in the historic doyt. OOOOF :D

Zeus, let's go and excavate a few more coppas tomorrow and another trade axe...COLONIAL, BABY!!! :occasion14:

Zeus,

Woooooohoooooo, you amazed Kyle and I today! It was such a thrill to see you dig that Liberty Cap. I think the farmer probably heard us yelling super loud when we saw the cap. :o :D Amazing! Seriously, if this field is any guide to what our main area produced before the plant (7 coppas and 1 Spanish half real), what will happen when we get in there? :o

COLONIAL! You are a true hunter in that style! We are still on top! Still on top!

34 coppas for the group...4 Spanish wilvers...trade axe...what else should I add? Maybe tomorrow our Draped Bust wilver!

Kirk

P.S. Congrats on your 15th coppa for the year! I have 9, but am clossssse behind, looney! :D
Don't forget coin silver spoon

I know I.P. The copper was just removed from the tumbler with nothing to show for it. It registered Pulltab on my meter.

Chris

Good chance were all cousins on uncle Bob's side twice removed :icon_scratch: :dontknow: I couldnt live without the banter , If I was'nt a lowly truck-driver delivering fresh produce , frozen ice cream , and dead flesh of animals to waiting Walmart customers I'd be doing stand up comedy in Peoria :tongue3:

I only get serious when it comes to finding Colonial anythings  and rasearch :icon_study:

I better find more Liberty caps , I only have the 1795 and LORD knows I put in the time !

Derek :stop:

You guys always find the good stuff.
