The 3 detectateers got out today and we were not even sure we would because of all the earlier rain that pounded the area. I was driving a skid steer early this morning at work to repair the washouts. All the childhood years playing with Tonka toys paid off. We started late. We went back to last weeks site that produced alot for the farm as a whole. When we pulled up to the spot we realized that they did not harvest any more from last week. We were bumming. But then we thought"Maybe there is a reason." As soon as we turned our detectors on we spread out like a drop of gasoline in water. I wasn't detecting for 25 minutes when I got a pulltab reading on my analog xl pro. 4 or 5 inches popped a colonial slug (so far) . I will soon tumble it for detail. 2 minutes later and only 10 feet away a nice Q on Quarter found me looking at a Draped Bust Large cent.By then Kirk and Kyle were hovering and hanging on me like a cheap suit. another 2 feet away Bam . I yelled " Uh-Oh" Q on Quarter and pinpointing small like a coin. We huddled on the spot and I wish I had my camera with me to record our antics. 3 inches of moist doit and there it was . A green disk. I thought Kyle was going to pop like a lanced boil. Kirk flew in the air like a jack in the box. That boy can jump like a Watusi warrior. This all happened folks when I pulled it out of the dirt and it was Thick. This coin was large cent sized and thick. It had to be either Chain Cent, Flowing Hair wreath type or Liberty Cap. I played with it alittle and saw the Liberty Cap. I then started bellowing out like a Howler Monkey "It's A Liberty Cap Thicky" over and over and over. This sent the twins into fits of Gibbon dancing. You folks have to realize that the Liberty Cap thicky is the main target of every hunt we go on PERIOD. That made 3 Coppers for me in 5 minutes of swinging. AMAZING. My second liberty cap Large thicky cent and my third over all liberty cap. I also found a half cent liberty cap. All 3 of them have words on the edge of the coin. We are going back tomorrow. Thanks to everyone who reads this post.
Chris

You just wait BB, I think I'm waiting on a good one. :) The field was still planted but I dug 3 flats and a 1700s Hibernia just outside. It's in a good military area so I'm fairly pumped to go and expect good things.

The PA Thunder will not last long! :D

Chris,
I started reading your post and laughing hysterically. My wife looked at me like I was loosing it. :tongue3:
Between the "cheap suit" comment and, "I thought Kyle was going to pop like a lanced boil. Kirk flew in the air like a jack in the box. That boy can jump like a Watusi warrior." ;D ;D ;D Hilarious!!!
A fantastic day for you. Short but VERY sweet. I would love to find some coins like you guys find up North.
I have some CW lead we could trade. :tongue3: :tard:
Kyles due next. Maybe today. ???
Congrats,
Doug
