Lightest detector out there.

For those of you that have used many different detectors, witch mid to high end detector is the lighter that you have used. I had an X-Terra 50 and had to sale it to help my brother thru collage. Now that he's out, its time for a new detector and for some research.

If weight is a very big concern, pretty hard to beat the Tesoro line. Lifetime warranty as well.

I don't know about the weight of the new Fishers. Whites machines are pretty heavy still. I'd say certainly one of the Tesoro line, and probably the Cibola, Tejon, and DeLeon are all lighter than most.

Used to be, detector companies published the weight of their machines as a big selling point. Now they can make 'em light enough that it isn't that much of an issue anymore. So it makes it harder to find that information, short of calling them or a dealer.

When I was debating my last detector, I settled on the DFX with weight as a factor in my decision. I have rapidly advancing arthritis and using my 6000DI Pro was becomming increasingly uncomfortable. I had to keep switching hands every few minutes. I probably could have made the 6000 a hip mount, but wanted to upgrade anyhow.

I'm pretty sure it's lighter than the Minelabs, which would have been my other choice.

It's also ergonomically designed to distribute the weight so I can comfortably swing it without a lot of discomfort.

fisher F-70, f-75, teknetics t-2. dont know if the t-2 is lighter than the xt-50, but the t-2 was way more comfortable than my xt 50 to swing.

I think you cannot go wrong with the upper mid range Tesoros like the cibola or the vaquero or tejon. I have had a couple of tesoros in the past and you cannot beat the warranty and they are tough too. Well built and dependable. If I were you though and since you are kind of used to the Xterra 50 anyways, I would keep an eye out in the classified adds here on T'Net. You could probably pick up another Xterra 50 used in the $300-$425 range. I have one now and would not take a thing for it. If you have an issue with joints that keeps you from using a detector for extended periods of time then I would make sure and go for a machine that is by Tesoro....Just my opinion, Tim

You might want to look at the new Whites Prizm 6T. Weighs about 3 lbs with batteries. Reviews have been very good. Only draw back in coil selection. A small DD is on the way, but for now only have the stock coil.

My fisher 1266-X is really light, they're not made anymore, but you can still find them. Just ask BB........NGE

I think Tesoro is the lightest hands down plus they have a growing reputation for being an excellent treasure hunter. And I am not a "Tesoro guy", I just have a low end model I won at a hunt. I like it so well I use it all the time. Monty

I have major shoulder problems, and here is what I found. The x-terra 70 is light, but the balance was not the greatest, especially with the double d coil.
For comparison here is the 2 I narrowed it down to that helped me. The x-terra with the STOCK coil(which I love) and the Fisher F75. The F-75 is heavier, but it is so well balanced, even with the stock double-d coil, I could swing it longer without it hurting my shoulder as bad. Of course the F75 takes a little getting used to, but I love that machine. My 2 cents, probably worth more like 1 cent though

For what it's worth, with the several detectors I'm blessed in owning, if I had to give them all up but one, I truly believe it would come down to my Vaquero or Silver MicroMax, yes, several of the others will go lots deeper, but for the weight and being able to handle junk easily, definitely one of those two.
