I have only been CRH for about a month now so I really look forward to my weekly box. I stop by the bank yesterday to pick up the box and the teller says "I'm so sorry, we forgot to order your box this week. I promise we'll order you on next week.". Ouch!

I felt like a kid who wakes up on Christmas morning and is told Santa didn't show up! Until that time I didn't realize how hooked I was with this hobby. I will have to live vicariously through all of you even more than ever this next week!

That is why I like have have halves coming in from several banks in one town on the same day. A day without halves is not as much fun at all :icon_scratch:

This happens to all of us occasionally. I have a bank that used to order for me. Then one day they mysteriously said they couldn't get halves. They kept trying, but I kept hearing they couldn't get them. Then one day I went to a different branch of the same bank. That branch never has a problem - isn't that amazing. Occasionally I drop by the other branch that can't get them, and they keep telling me they are trying. Horse hockey! Keep trying. :wink:

Doh sorry to hear that!

perfect time to try a road trip then! or just look around at some different branches near malls and stuff. You'd be surprised that alot of banks do keep 1 box of halves for merchants. I have identified a couple random banks in my area that do this...so if I am ever dry on a friday I can swing by and load up at these places.

From my experience as I've only been doing this a couple months it seemed like i had to remind the service manager alot at first, but once you became a "regular" on his order he never forgets now.

I once had 10 boxes lined up(4 at one bank, 6 at another), only to be told on the day of the first boxes that Loomis Armored put a restriction on the amount of Halves both banks could order, and both my orders were cancelled. I had "a few choice words" for Loomis that day.

Funny you should say that since that is exactly what I did. Unfortunately I had no luck (not even loose coins) at any banks I went to. When you guys do road trips do you go inside or just hit drive thru's?

When doing a road trip, which I actually do alot recently, ill usually set a route I plan to drive. Ill usually call the first bank on my way through the loop, and just call the banks as I get close to them.

I have a bank thats the exact opposite. I will walk in and the head teller will tell me my halves are in, & I didnt even order any that week !!! I dont see this as a problem though.

This has happened to me every week for the past 4, if i didnt have an ebay account going through that bank.....id be gone.

It happens. The bank that does half dollars for me (it can only do 1 a week) always follows through on the order. However, I order dimes from Wells Fargo and they are the most unreliable people I can ever recall working with. No matter how many I order, it never fails that when I call I'm told, "well, it seems the order got messed up. Would you like an extra box that we have?"
