Looking for a coin shop?

I was dumping off the spare change and a ol' lady walks up asking if they buy coins (silver ones). The teller says no sorry, take them to a coin shop. She asks for any coin shops near by. I let her know about a few around and she asks if I buy coins. I replied maybe, let me see what you have. She pulls out 2 dozen Peace, Morgans, and Ikes in pretty good shape. She says I have collected them over the years and I have more at home. She is in her 70's. So here comes the breaking point for me. I am a karma guy, so I looked at every coin and told her to buy a red book and go to multiple shops and see what they offer. Then it is your call to part with them. The teller said, he is right get a red book. So helped a ol lady and found a cherrypicker today.

why didnt you offer her money straight out for them. i mean below melt price, but a fair amount, as you know those coin shops arent gonna even give her that...

Could have just paid her 80% melt.Alls good treat people fair.It will come back.

most coin shops in my area will offer about 2/3rds of a coins full melt value on adverage I 've found and do not even get me going on what "pawn shops" will offer her. -- offering her 2/3rds of melt value then and there on the spot would have been fair in my veiw since shes not likely to get any better price wize elsewhere and it would cut down on her running about cost (what with gas at $4 a gallon) and saved her some time as well.

Admirable, you did the right thing. I would have just told her that I would offer her more than any coin shop/we buy PM place and given her my number. When she found out what they offered she would have called you. Good chance to load up on 90%.
