Hi everyone
Looking for some help to see if anyone thinks this could be an artifact of some sorts. Found it in south ga along the coast. To me the perfect round hole in it is strange.
Tx in advance.

I think your rock is natural with the holes. The inside of the holes should show evidence of drilling. It looks like a river cobble with a hole in it. The silver/goldish rock is common in the mountains of ga. It come apart very easy. The creeks are full of it. <img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1066534"/>
Thanks I had no idea lol

You could definitely be right about that TN.
I may have used a little wishful thinking.. But I also thought there was the possibility even if it were an artifact and spent a long time in a river it could end up looking like that

Maybe hard to say with out holding it,, the holes would tell for sure.

Shist

Ok I'm taking all of this in. The silver rock has certainly been on a journey seeing I am on the east coast (4 miles from ocean)and about 7 hours from the mountains but any things possible. Any way to tell if it's fossilized bone or stone.

Well its already been solved I see. I think the drilled stone is natural also. If it was a banner there would be signs of polish and the outer cortex would be smooth. I see natural cortex on it. I would of brought it home though to have a closer look at it. Its always safer to ask than to just toss it.

Hunter welcome to t-net by the way. Google "worm holes in rock" worm holes in rocks

schist on georgia coast

Thanks guys and thank you for the welcome. If any of you get down to my area. Brunswick ga and want to go hunting for these. Let me know. IDE be glad to show you my areas.

Now that is some big teeth. GB likes those a lot. Im north of you by the way

Yes they are rock and we find them quite often. The big piece on top is probably 1/5 th of actual tooth if it was whole.

That would have been a monster Megalodon... That one Mako is pretty huge.

I do a little fossil hunting I think I have a couple teeth :-)

So true Gatorboy. Some day I will find that 6""
Meg. There dredging again as we speak.

Any time you want a few smaller ones just pm me your info. I'll throw some in an envelope for you. We've found around 300 total.

I was being a little facetious I've got loads actually I do a lot of fossil hunting... It's very gracious of you and you sound like a great guy to offer some.
I hope you don't mind I'm posting a few of mine.
Good luck I love when some new dredging is done very rarely I get the opportunity to hunt that way

my boss was just close by u on vacation he said they were dredging he found a big mega tooth it was broke but it was big I can't wait to find one !!!!

A fossil hunter is pretty blessed here in Florida

I guess I'm the one that is going to have to disagree. The hole looks natural, especially since you can see where another is forming right next to it. I see a natural stone.
