Kaolin is clay.. It's what this is made of. Nice knife ya got there.

Nice artifact, could be Kaolin chert it outcrops in Illinois or Missouri if im not mistaken.

I had to smile too kat when outlawatheart put lopsided I was thinking what the locals would describe it as "whoppy jawed" lol It is a nice gold color though and a beauty!

Did you mean Paoli Chert which is commonly referred to as Carter Cave Chert? It could be Paoli.

I also agree that it was used as a Knife. The one side is curved because of resharpening.


No I meant Kaolin chert.
 

nice piece. also potentially a multitool featuring a curved sythe/sickle like blade for grasses and such and a rounded edge for skinning.
