Lost & Found?

Started a couple of years ago or so, by coming across two older and water damaged stamp albums in a junk store, lots of good stuff in it, then the next year, an estate sale, they just wanted to clear a dearly departed's house of the contents, including a table full of stamp stuff, two or three albums and like 3or 4 boxes of items, great stuff. Paid $400 for all of it, then had buyer's remorse, until I started to go through all of it, after which I knew I was kind of hooked. Recently, a friends neighbor was charged with emptying out a small house for quick resale, the person living there passed away, no known relatives, everything to be headed to the dumpsters, including 4 or 5 large trash bags and like 4 boxes of stamp and related materials, friend thought of me, and the fella gathering up everything said that if I wanted all the stamp "stuff", take it home, I am still sorting it out, The fella who collected all this was it seems to have been a lifelong collector, tons of stuff mixed with trash tossed into bags and boxes, and somehow the "Gold" of his collection is not here. Sad really, but the point of this post is, just like swinging a coil is "You just never know", there were some treasures in all of these, my favorite were two Confederate stamps, a lot of other things, but at this moment they come to mind. Never in my life, (73) have I had any interest in stamps, but this has all took on a life of its own, spent many $$$ on better albums to transfer the stamps to along with other supplies, and used, unused and mint stamps to replace and add to. With no regrets. Granted, no one sees any of them, no one is really interested it or the effort involved in it, but this is for me, and I enjoy it. It is a long shot, but keep looking, things like this must still be out there, good luck with it. Dave

Thanks' Don, no local clubs anywhere around here and at 73, I'm just a bit over the age limit I think to be a boy scout, having said that, so far I have put together 3 boxes of stamps, foreign & domestic used and in a mint state, to perhaps donate to scout organizations. Tons of stuff. not small boxes. When I had said, "Sad really", I did mean that this fella (whose name was Larry) who was a lifelong collector, having a lot of his work on its way to the dumpsters. I hope to salvage and do some of his collection justice.
