Hi, how's everyone doing? I've just signed up here.

Here's some Silver milled Coins I've had over the last few weeks off pasture, most are full Silver, a couple are only half and ones a Quarter Dollar.
Also a few other bits.....Two Silver Thimbles....A Modern Silver Ring.....A Silver Watch with tiny Diamond.......A nice Silver St Christopher and a Fragment of a forgery of a Charles the 1st Half Crown (couldn't find the rest unfortunately).

My best find recently though came a couple of days ago, a lovely Silver Shoe Buckle.
It's fully complete and looks and feels as if it was made yesterday, fully working and could be used today as it was meant to be when it was made, even after spending a lot of that time in the ground, a testament to the maker if there ever
It also has MD inscribed onto the back of the Chape, I've seen one similar to this online and they are thought to be the owners initials.

Silver Buckles don't come up very often over here so a complete one is a rare find, probably my best yet.

Funnily enough I live and found this near to the port where the Mayflower first sailed to the New World.

Great finds and I really like the collage you put together to show them off.

How about that , you live in the port of the Mayflower . You must visit Mass. & Plymouth Rock someday . New England is a nice holiday trip . That is wonderful buckle you unearthed ! Big Congrats :occasion14:

Thanks Everyone,

Worldtalker & Leprechaun,
I wasn't sure what a Banner find was at first but got it now, thanks a lot for the votes.

Hi CMD Dawg,
Yeah I haven't been State side yet, love to go though and will do one day.
New England sounds like a good place to start, you ever been this side of the pond? Thanks for the comment.

Nov2101,
Thanks mate.
Ive been scouring the net every chance I get for info and out of the handful of Silver Buckles similar to this I could find, one had the exact same Makers Mark and was credited to George Watkins, so got real lucky there.

I'm really liking this site so far, uploading pics is a doddle and to be able to upload straight from my iPad is quality.
The crops round here are just about to be cut so hopefully I can find some more nice bits to put up soon, don't know if I'll top this for a while but you never know.

Happy Hunting.

That buckle is a stunner! I like the thimbles too. I can't wait to see what else you find. Happy Hunting and welcome to the forum.:hello:

that buckle is a beauty! congrats

Hi tngirl & cntrydncr1 thanks for the comments and welcome.
It came out the ground like that as well, didn't even have to clean it.

WOW what a great few hunts you had gotta love those silver coins

Congrats on an outstanding find! We occasionally find silver knee and shoe buckles over here, but not as old as yours. The closest I've come is about 1/4 of a silver knee buckle :)

nice silvers ...congrats! :icon_thumleft:

Holy cow! I am voting banner .That is a lot OLD silver! Love the buckle and the thimbles rock also!!!

Very Nice buckle. I've never been lucky enough yet to find that kind in silver.I've got a piece of one & two copper alloy ones but they are spur buckles from that time frame.Cool others as well.
Take Care,
Pete,:hello:
