Okay, so here's the story: My sister has a little antique shop and has a sign up how we buy local estates or if someone doesn't want to have a garage sale they can bring in their items for store credit(which we always come out way ahead on!). Well, this lady comes in and says she's moving and said she needed some furniture for her new apartment and did my sister want to do some trading? So she brought in four styrofoam ice-chests full of jewelry. My sister asked her what she wanted for it all and she said how about $75. OKAY! The lady takes some end tables and a couple of knick-knack pieces and was just pleased with the deal. We really weren't expecting anything but costume jewelry because it was all just thrown into the boxes and not separted or anything. (And before anyone asks--No the lady wasn't re-tar-ded or anything---I just don't think she cared or wanted to separate it all---And all the jewelry was very dirty, it looked like it had been thrown in the boxes and just stored away :dontknow:. )
So guess what we found??!! 10K and 14K rings, 14K Engraved bangle bracelet, and a whole bunch of sterling silver, plus a bunch of costume jewelry as well as just some junk jewelry.
This morning I checked the gold and silver prices and listed some of the stuff on ebay, and sold two lots almost instantly---Made an approx $265+ profit already and still have more things to list. The bangle bracelet is still going at auction and has had 4 bids and is at $52 as of a few minutes ago(http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150587054724&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT).
There was also a bag of COINS in this stuff---mostly just foreign coins, but there were 3 Canadian silver quarters, some wheat pennies, 2 steel wheaties, a buffalo nickel and two silver Roosevelt dimes.
So the lady came down by my sisters shop last Friday and told her she was going to try to have a garage sale on Saturday and would be putting out some more boxes of junk jewelry---We went to the sale and spent another $60 and got more boxes of jewelry and other stuff! I just finished going through some of the boxes and found some watches---there is a mans watch, Girard Perrregaux Gyromatic 14 KARAT GOLD! It was a presentation watch to some man for "5 years loyal service" and is dated 10-5-73. I just looked on ebay and these watches seem to be selling pretty good.
YEE-HAW---We're off to a running start this garage sale season!! :D
Here's some pics....(I'll have to reply with more pics because I can only upload a few at a time). Thanks for looking!!

That sure beats my 2 sterling chains and 3 mercs. :icon_thumright:
I would have bought all her jewelry too.
It was almost too easy, cyberdan. But she told my sister how much she wanted for it, so we don't feel like we ripped her off or anything. I just think she didn't want to mess with sorting it all out and since she was moving just wanted to get rid of some of it. We have sorted through jewelry for three or four days now---and almost everything had to be cleaned. Lots of fun! I just found a nice pair of cuff links and a set of Kramer earrings and choker(costume jewelry) that we'll probably price and put at the antique shop.
Thanks!

sweeeeeet deal, rent is covered and profit has been made
Thanks centfladigger! Yes, as long as we can pay the bills and make a little profit, we're happy  .

Here's a couple of questionable pieces we found in this stuff that we need help with--The first is a ring with a blue stone. Inside the ring its marked FC-14K....What does that mean?
The other piece is a necklace/pendant with the marking "925" and some kind of symbol---It is gold colored though :icon_scratch: . Are some silver items overlayed with gold and still marked 925?

Sis, I love your post on the awesome deal we got into! Just to let everyone know I've probably sold $150.00 worth of costume pieces already. I bet there is close to a couple thousand dollars worth of costume jewelry that I've taken to the shop. We made out like bandits on this sweet deal! Thank you Lord!!! My jewelry counters are overflowing! We spent hours cleaning and pricing this stuff. I also got old vintage rodeo posters, antique books, jewelry boxes, dishes, a turquoise/silver ring and bracelet that I kept for myself and other neat old misc. I've attached a few more pics of a small portion of the items. I'll take some more pics and post. :hello2:

Good, I'm glad you posted the pics of the other stuff, Thressa. Take some pictures of those rodeo posters and post them too.
I feel kinda like Jesse James musta felt on a good day at the banks :tongue3: ;D .

We all forget the many stops we make that don't produce when we find a deal like this. It does seem easy with deals like yours, but I'm sure most of us have paid our dues with tons of stops that make it seem anything but easy. You find these deals by stick with it when you are finding very little worth while.
That's right, jnkhntr---I can't tell you how many garage sales we make and don't find anything worth mentioning. And I live so far from town that I have to get up a 4 a.m. to make it to the Saturday morning garage sales that start at 7 and 8 a.m., but we LOVE it, so we stick with it. It all about the chase and the hope of getting a really good deal  or finding something that might bring a nice chunk of change ;D .
Thanks Jnkhntr!!!!

Here's a couple more pics of some of the stuff---a gorgeous set of cuff links and some small violins(salesman samples?). I've got the violins listed on ebay, too, and they have the minimum bid with 11 watchers.

incredible !!!!!!!!!!!!!!I am speechless !

Ha, Ha, Carmon! I know it does make you feel like Jesse James probably did! It's just the blessing of the Lord and it seems almost too good to be true. We got a lot more of these kind of deals stored up for us in Jesus' name!!Lol! It says in the bible to leave your gates open because the Lord will cause people to bring treasures and lay them at your feet. Bring it on, Lord, bring it on!!! Thanks everyone for your comments!

First of all- Great Post and an Amazing Score!!!!

The questionable pieces-
I believe that "FC" is just a makers mark on the "Star Sapphire" ring.
Also, I have seen gold plated sterling pieces before so the answer to your question would be yes.

Thanks diggummup! We still can't quite believe all the stuff the woman sold us.
The star sapphire is listed on ebay and has had 10 bids! It ends tonight about 9:30 central time.

We've got lots of sales to go to tomorrow! Hope everyone has a good weekend of garage saling!!
sandcreek~~
