Well I got home from our dive trip to sunny Florida last weekend and I am a bit sad to report that due to weather we were only able to get in a couple of dives on the Bone Yard in Venice. Then we headed to Tampa to meet with ScubaFinder at GME Global Marine Exploration, Inc. Home of GME, GME Deep and Anchor Research & Salvage - Part 1 and see their excellent facility, with it's state of the art conservation lab where they are conserving there latest finds from a shipwreck in the Dominican Republic.and then it was off to Ginnie Springs for some cave diving action. I didn't get much Shark Tooth diving in but I did manage to find one real beauty and a hand full of small shark teeth. The Meg tooth is a 3 incher and is in near perfect condition with all the serrations still there on both sides of the tooth.

Now it's back to wreck diving and metal detecting.
Good luck everyone,

Thanks for the tip Lesche, are they in the river or out off shore?
When we were there we went to sharky's for lunch and a few brewskies and we were told that someone caught a 6 foot shark of the pier while we were out diving in front of it. It's a good thing the vis. was only about 3-4 ft. I heard if you can't see the sharks they wont bite you. They want to scare the poop out of you first.:tongue3:

alot of surface finds but if you go to where the park meats the waterway near the mangroves there were eroding walls of sand they brought up when they dug the waterway and i would always find fossils after it rained and eroded some more

Sharkys was cool do they still have the life sized fiberglass megalodon jaw with all the fossilized teeth put in it? that thing was menacing!

Good info, Sharkys is a cool spot, good food, good beer, great people. I didn't see the Life Sized jaw but there was lots of other things to look at there:laughing7: so I might have missed it.

Looks like you had a great trip...great looking MEG tooth...beautiful !!!

That would be one big fish !!

Congrats !!

Awesome artifact Dave!! I've never had any luck finding sharks teeth, but that's probably because I don't dive:laughing7:.

This tooth came from a shark that was possibly 35 ft long.

They find them down your way too Bill some are found while walking along river banks, so next time your out looking for Indian Pottery keep your eyes open for black triangle objects. You just never know.
Next year me may try the Cooper River in SC they get some really nice ones in that river.

Wow Dave that is a beautiful tooth my friend. I'm no rare tooth expert. :-) but that looks like it's in incredible condition. And I have to get mine cleaned every 6 months. :-)

That's an awesome specimen...if you're only going to find one then that's the one to find!!
