Metal Detecting in Galveston, TX

Does anyone know if there are any laws prohibiting using a metal detector on the beaches of Galveston, TX? Or where I could read up on this subject?

Texas beaches on the Gulf Coast side are open all the way to Padre Island. Don,t even have one in y0ur vehicle
when there. Intent is presumed by possession.(Big-Trouble) Anything over 100yrs old is supposed to be turned in! to the driveway?

So, anything around Matagorda Bay, unless a Federal or State-protected site, is o.k. ? Like the barrier island just outside of Matagorda Bay, only accessible by boat, where no one lives?

From what I gather, Matagorda Bay beaches are administered by the LCRA . A utility. And that even state beaches in TX are ok (as can be seen from the other replies on this old thread). So .... what is the question ? Why aren't you md'ing already ?

Thank you Tom. Just wanted to confirm prior poster that 'Texas beaches on the Gulf Coast side are open all the way to Padre Island'. I believe the Padre Island area of control begins on the South side of Matagorda Bay/beach. Planning a trip down there from Houston, just don't want to waste a drive.
