Mid 1700's Complete Shoe Buckle..1798 Draped bust Shot coin ..Massive axe head

Went out on Saturday for a mid day hunt...Went to a very old spot that I have been to before...Targets are drying up but I managed a few keepers...The Axe head was at 14 inches deep and was a pleasant surprise.. It is HUGE 10" x 7"...Found one of my favorite things to find...A mid 1700's Complete Shoe buckle, With great patina  The chape was bent bad...but I bent it back as close as it would get without breaking...I found a 1798 Draped bust penny that looks like it was shot...pretty cool find...I found one flat button but I left it in my truck.

I was waiting for you to post those finds, you did a nice job straightening out the buckle. I still think you should restore that axe head, get a new handle and give it to me for Christmas.
lol Fog....I am going to restore it..but I'm gonna keep it lol..First I have to figure out the best way....as for the buckle really regret not taken before pic...it was really bent...working with metal all these years has paid off.

Thanks for all the replies Brian W

Guys I have to say that while I've seen shot coins before, and those have been great pieces of history, all of the shot coins I've seen were done with more modern weapons (at least percussion cap weapons). To think that this coin was likely shot with a flintlock (I'm thinking about the DELAY between the trigger being squeezed and the round actually being fired!), well that is just fantastic!

Congrats on a VERY cool coin.

what a cool buckle .I don't know what it is about old buckles but man I love digging them up

Great digs! Shot LC is cool. You had to be a real man to swing that axe head.

Very cool finds. I especially like the target practice LC.

24.webpMy first large cent when I was a kid (mid 70s) was hit with a musket ball - I was stupid and flattened it out

I'm with VPR that penny is very interesting...one of a kind. All great finds.

Awesome finds, the axe head very cool!
