Guys, Went down to the river tonight to checkout the flooding situation (nothing yet)! I think they said another foot to get to flood stage and that it will crest at about 4 or 5 feet over that! That's if there is not too much more rain up north!

I heard a report about the Army Corps of Engineers being forced to adopt a policy by the Clinton Administration where they would control the flow of rivers to mimic the seasonal flooding that would "benefit the ecosystem and wildlife" along the rivers and specifically not be controlled to benefit the people and businesses along the river. The adoption of this policy, during an extended period of drought, was initially not discovered to be a problem. But now that snowfall/rainfall are returning to normal and higher levels, the lack of action by the Corps to release water early in the year is resulting in record flooding and loss of property in the spring and summer.

Apparently this is not "normal" flooding.

it is the fault of the people up river they have 2 big catfish tournaments one in the summer and one in the winter they both bring in a million dollars plus so we run low in the summer and way to high in the spring because they need the water for the fishin contests if they would run the river at 12 ft in the winter instead of 4-6 ft when it comes time to hoard water from the state of missouri the snow nelt and rain fall wouldnt be floding them and threating to break their dams then flood us damn near to 93 again all for a damned fishing tournament what a load of s--t
