Thanks for the help.

The U.S. "button" (A) I believe is collar brass. post WWII. The backing is missing. Any thoughts?

the second disc (B) is copper, with no design or markings. However the one side has what appears to have been something soldered on it (or was just laying on it. Smooth edges.

(C) has no markings and no solder marks. appears to be all copper. One side of the edge feels a little sharp. Maybe a freeze out plug pieces part to something, or still a possibility of a button?

Is the fourth object a bale seal? Looking at pics, there appears to be different styles, so I'm not sure. this would be my bale cherry if so.

And Little Timmy's lost toy revolver? I'm sharing that 'cause I thought it was cool....

thanks for looking!

It's a tree tag from the Massachusetts Fruit Growers Association. (MFGA), and the opposite side would say Certified, along with the variety of tree (probably McIntosh apple).
And I think the cap gun is a Hubley Texan (I wasn't sure if you were asking, but anyway).

The following excellent educational website on American Army collar-disc insignia confirms your guess:
Dating Metallic Insignia: Collar Disks
The US collar-disc insignia you found dates from 1942 to 1970. It is missing the flat bar (with mounting-pins) that was soldered to the back-disc, which has become detached from the insignia's convex stamped-brass front.

Thanks for the input, and that website. consider it bookmarked.

TheCannonballGuy : Any thoughts on the chances of either copper piece being a button. ( Dont ask me why...I just think flat buttons are cool...lol.)

Tidajo, since you asked...
I believe disc "B" is the back of the collar-disc insignia, because if you look at the "Collar-Discs" webpage, you'll see some of the collar-discs have a flat brass or iron "bar" or "plank," with mounting-pins, on the back of the collar-disc. Your disc "C" might be a flatbutton, except that you say one edge is sharp, which would tend to disqualify it from being a flatbutton, because a sharp edge on a metal button would cut into the cloth buttonhole as it repeatedly gets pushed through the buttonhole in daily use.

nhbenz: Perfect. Thanks!
(I wasn't asking about the gun, but I'm certainly glad for the info!)

TheCannonballGuy : Another solved mystery. You made me think...Although the collar brass and disc B were found hours apart, they were in the same general area. Within 50'. One at the start of the day, and the second on the way back out...I never would have put the two together.

Tidajo, in studying your photo showing the US collar-disc insignia alongside the disc with a solder-mark, I'm concerned that the soldered disc might be too small to be the back of the insignia. Please try sitting that disc inside the back of the insignia disc... if it drops in easily, it's not the insignia's back... and I was incorrect.

I did that when I initially read your post.
It's a tight fit, and looks like it would "snap in" if a gave it a squeeze.

Okay, thanks for checking the fit, and the photo showing it. That makes me feel better about having said the disc with solder is the back of the collar-insignia. :)

The least I could do. You should always get feedback.

Thanks again!
