Military Lapel Pin?

A friend of mine is trying to identify this (what looks like) a military lapel pin. It may be upside down in the photo.

Can anyone help?

Well the only other one I saw online, looks like it's marked V21 on the reverse. If yours is, that means it was made by Vanguard Military Equipment Corp.

Still looking to ID it......As the one I found was listed as unknown.

I'm guessing JROTC, but I can't prove it.

Thank you. This is the only other picture of the pin I have seen so thank you. I'll keep looking.

Don’t know what it is, but if made by Vanguard it will likely have one of the following backmarks:

World War II - early 1950s: stylized eagle, shield, and a “V”, sometimes with the name “Vanguard” in a scroll at the bottom; or the word “Vanguard” with “N.Y.”

c1953/4 – 1964/5: the two digit code “1V”

c.1964/5 - 1974: the code “V-21”

1974 to date (still in use): the code “V-21-N”

Nice work! Agree...it's the U.S. Army IRR Unit Crest. Usually arrived in the mail after leaving active duty and was seldom ever pined on the uniform by most IRR soldiers.
